POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Alvaston.
The incident happened off Baker Street in Alvaston sometime between midnight and 2am on Saturday May 3 when a 49-year-old man was walking home from a night out.
The man walked was walking down a jitty from Baker Street towards the canal path when he was approached by a group of youths and girls.
One of the group bumped into him and he felt something hit his side.
He fell to the ground and when he got up the group had gone.
As he walked away he realised that he was bleeding from an injury and called an ambulance.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for a puncture wound in his body.
The youth who bumped into him is described as being black, about 15-years-old, with very short dark hair and of medium build and height.
He believes the girls in the group were white and the youths were black.
