FOUR teenagers have been rescued from the River Derwent in Derby this evening.
The youngsters, two boys and two girls, got into trouble just downstream from the weir close to Raynesway.
The four had managed to make it across the river to opposite bank but had become trapped due to the fast flowing current.
A walker on the bank called the emergency services.
Firefighters, police and paramedics were all on the scene.
One of the boys had managed to swim to safety but firefighters had to wade into the river to save the two girls and the boy who were left standing in mud surrounded by nettles and branches.
After the teenagers had been brought to safety on the river bank they were treated at the scene by paramedics as anxious family members and friends arrived.
None of the children were hurt and, checked over by paramedics, were allowed to go home.
