DERBY County midfielder Jeff Hendrick took another step in his international development by playing 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland against Italy on Saturday night.
Hendrick got the nod to start from boss Martin O'Neill in the friendly match at Fulham's Craven Cottage, picking up his fifth senior cap.
And Ireland held England's opening World Cup opponents to a goalless draw with an impressive display.
Hendrick's Derby team-mates Richard Keogh and Conor Sammon were both unused substitutes.
The game was marred by an injury to Italy midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, who broke his leg and will miss the World Cup.
