POLICE say an allegation of electoral misconduct made in Amber Valley last month has been "dealt with" and that "no crime had been committed".
A spokeswoman for Derbyshire police said suspicions were raised over the "validity of a candidate nomination paper" for the borough council's elections on May 22.
This is the paperwork which the council must receive for someone to be a candidate in the borough's elections.
The council's website says of the document that it must be "signed by two electors for the appropriate area, as proposer and seconder" and "eight other such electors as assentors".
The spokeswoman said: "The candidate was voluntarily interviewed and the matter has been dealt with.
"There will be no further police action and no criminal offences have been committed."
A borough council spokesman said: "We can confirm there was a complaint made of electoral misconduct during the pre-election period and this was passed on to the Police. This was not on election day."
