OFFICERS from the British Transport Police have this morning been examining the railway line near to Derby station after receiving a report of stolen cabling.
Network Rail officials have escorted the officers on to the track side while they carry out initial investigations.
A spokesman for the BTP said it received a call at around 5.20am.
He said: "We received a call about possible missing cable next to the track just north of Derby Midland Station at 5.21am.
"Officers had to wait for officials from Network Rail to allow us to get on to the side of the tracks to carry out investigations.
"It is not yet known if anything has been stolen."
