A FOUR-MONTH-OLD German Shepherd puppy was rescued after it was found in a parked car with the windows closed.
Police were called and after reporting it to the RSPCA officers decided to smash one of the windows on the car and rescue the dog.
PC Steve O'Callaghan retrieved the puppy and handed it over to staff from Pets at Home, who gave it water.
The dog is now in the care of the RSCPA, which is investigating the incident.
The rescue happened outside Pets At Home, in Ravenside Retail Park, Chesterfield, when the puppy was spotted
by a member of the public.
