CRAFT parties are taking place across the world today – including in Ashbourne.
All 30 million members of online market place etsy.com are encouraged to take part in the Global Etsy Craft Party.
A number of creative businesses from the Midlands are taking part in an event at Betty's Sewing Box and Tea Room, in Cokayne Avenue, Ashbourne.
Around 600 people are involved.
The day is seen as an opportunity for local designers and makers to meet fellow small craft business owners, learn new skills and celebrate creativity and entrepreneurship.
Lyndsey James, who runs product photography workshops, arranged the party in Ashbourne.
She said: "The craft industry is booming at the moment, especially after the recession and this is an opportunity for like-minded people to get together, talk about their products and share ideas.
"We're all passionate about working in the craft community and celebrating craftspeople and this is the perfect venue for us to meet up."
The party is open to everyone, including non-members of Etsy.com and runs until 4pm.
