TWO women were taken to hospital following a bus crash in Pride Park, Derby.

Police said an Arriva double decker was involved in a collision with a car at 9.10am in Locomotive Way close to Miller Homes and the Roundhouse. A 19-year-old and a 17-year-old woman were travelling in a silver-coloured Vauxhall Corsa. A Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the two female casualties were trapped in the car and had to be cut out by firefighters. They were taken to the Royal Derby Hospital by ambulance. A police spokeswoman said they suffered minor injuries and were discharged from hospital following treatment. Fire crews from Nottingham Road and Ascot Drive were at the scene, as well as police and the ambulance service. Michael Payne, 17, of Spondon, said he was on his way to Derby College on his motorbike at about 9.30am when he saw emergency services at the roundabout. He said: "There were a lot of flashing lights. "I saw a bus parked up and a Vauxhall Corsa in the bush. "There were a lot of firefighters around the car. There were four fire trucks and there must have been six police cars too. "It looked serious." Jacob Young, 17, of Chaddesden, said he was also on his way to Derby College when he saw the aftermath of the collision. He said: "It looked like it was a pretty nasty crash. "Two people were taken out of the car on stretchers and put in the back of the ambulance. "The firefighters had to cut the roof off to get to them." And Derby College student Mark Hall, 17, of Alvaston, said: "I watched the firemen cut the car to get to the people inside. "There were lots of firefighters and police, as well as a major rescue unit truck."
