FORMER Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes is hoping to play international football for Jamaica. Barnes scored 13 goals in 95 appearances for the Rams and helped them to win promotion to the Premier League in 2006-07. A loan to Fulham in 2009 was followed by a move to West Bromwich Albion, before he joined Doncaster Rovers. The British-born 25-year-old, who has Jamaican relatives, is currently playing his club football in the United States with MLS side Houston Dynamo. Now he is looking to break through on to the international stage. "You always want to play international football," Barnes told MLSsoccer.com. "It's a dream as a child. "The first one was playing in the Premier League. I did, and so the next one's playing internationally. Hopefully, I can achieve that as well. "You've got to get selected but I think I've got a lot to offer. "That's just me. I'm not being big-headed but I've played at the highest level and I can play at a variety of positions. "A lot of my friends play for the Jamaican national side as well, so it'll be a good experience for me." Current Derby player Simon Dawkins recently made his debut for Jamaica, playing four post-season friendly internationals.
