A CAFE and a shop were targeted by burglars in Ashbourne town centre on the same night.
Thieves broke into Chimes cafe, in St John Street, and Equatorial, in Victoria Square, sometime between 6.30pm on Monday and 9.30am the next morning.
A number of valuable items were reported stolen, including a couple of Danish Design wristwatches valued at £350 each.
Ashbourne's sergeant Denis Murphy said: "During the summer months crime incidents can occasionally surge – even in a safe place like Ashbourne.
"We are determined to do all that we can to ensure that fewer people become victims.
"I cannot emphasise enough the importance of the continuing vigilance of the community in reporting suspicious behaviour to us.
"Ashbourne people have responded in a magnificent way to suspicious behaviour and incidents. Long may this continue."
Anyone with information about the burglaries are asked to call police on 101.
