ARTS organisations in Derby and Derbyshire say they are thrilled to hear they will receive a total of £8.9m in funding.
Arts Council England announced its investment plans for the next three years today.
Eleven organisations in Derby and Derbyshire, as well as Derby and Nottingham Museums, will receive funding, which will begin from April 2015.
These are:• Baby People• Buxton Arts Festival Limited• Deda• Derby and Nottingham Museums • Derby Theatre• Derby QUAD Limited• East Midlands Caribbean Carnival Arts Network C.I.C. (EMCCAN)• First Movement Limited• Junction Arts Limited• People Express• Red Earth Theatre Limited • ViVA Chamber Orchestra Ltd
Derby Theatre will receive £500,000 per annum, while Derby's Quad has been offered £477,753.
Derby-based regional dance house Deda will receive £238,374 a year for the next three years.
Sarah Brigham, artistic director at Derby Theatre, said: "This is a huge vote of confidence from Arts Council for our model of a Learning Theatre and I'm delighted that our unique partnership with University of Derby has been recognised as a model of excellence.
"This funding will allow us to continue on our path of transforming Derby Theatre from a traditional producing house to an organisation of training, mentorship and artistic excellence."
