VALUABLE fishing equipment was stolen from a flat during a burglary in Ripley. Nine fishing rods, bags, boxes and tackle were taken sometime between 9pm on Wednesday, June 25 and 12.30am on Thursday, June 26 from a flat in Nottingham Road. Police believe the offender may have got into the property through an insecure window. Community Safety Inspector Russell Dakin said: "Fishing equipment and other sporting equipment can be quite valuable and expensive to replace so we would urge people to make sure that they store it as securely as possible. "Never leave equipment on show from the outside, and if you store items in a shed or garage then always make sure it is locked, and that the lock you use is substantial and of a good quality. "People should also consider installing an alarm and security marking valuable items." Anyone with information about the incident should contact Derbyshire police on 101 quoting crime reference number 26471/14.
