RESIDENTS have gathered more than 1,500 signatures on a petition against plans to build hundreds of homes in Chaddesden.
Radleigh Homes wants to build up to 215 properties on land at Brook Farm, in Oregon Way.
But residents said they did not want to see the homes built on one of the "last remaining open spaces" in the suburb – and have today handed in the petition to Derby City Council.
Jane Lamb, 65, of Chapel Lane, said: "This land is the heart of Chaddesden, our heritage, precious open space in an ever-increasing, over-populated suburb of Derby.
"It is already coping with the nightmare of traffic congestion and escalating pressure on local amenities."
