A 48-YEAR-OLD attacked an Iranian man with a walking stick in a planned assault after his girlfriend lured the victim to her home on the pretence they would have sex. Martin Clayton followed his partner Tracey Koujan down the street as she led the Iranian man to her Normanton house. Derby Crown Court heard that Clayton waited until the man was inside with Koujan before letting himself into the Violet Street address and attacking him. The injured man was struck on the head and arms with the stick and had to be treated in hospital for swelling and bruising to both, the hearing was told. Both Clayton, of Abingdon Street, Derby, and Koujan, 50, pleaded guilty to affray and actual bodily harm but the more serious charge of attempted robbery was dropped. Recorder Michael Elsom spared them immediate custody by handing them five month sentences, suspended for two years. He said: "I am saving you both from the prison gates today. "Tracey Koujan, you have fought various demons in your life and you have conquered them and if I send you to prison all that hard work will be undone. "Martin Clayton, if I send you to prison the person who will suffer will be your mother of whom you are the sole carer. "There was an element of pre-planning with this offence, you two actively decided what you were going to do in advance and targeted this man." Nicholas Way, prosecuting, told the court that the offence took place at around 10.30pm on August 27 last year. He said the victim and a friend were out in Normanton when they came across Koujan. Mr Way said: "Miss Koujan engaged the men in conversation and there was an agreement that she provide sexual services to them. "They walked towards her home and Martin Clayton was sat on a wall. "Miss Koujan and the men went into her house in Violet Street and the victim sat down in the living room. "Moments later Martin Clayton let himself into the house, raised the walking stick and started hitting the victim around the head. "The victim raised his arms in self-defence and was truck on them as well." Mr Way said the two men managed to get put of the house and both men went to the police station. Clayton and Koujan were arrested and in interviews both said the Iranian man was trying to force himself sexually on Koujan. But later Clayton admitted he had struck the victim with the walking stick. Faye Mellor, for Koujan, said: "This was a stupid decision and she is deeply sorry for what happened." Justin Ablott, for Clayton, said his client was the sole carer for his mother. Mr Ablott said: "He feels an enormous amount of guilty and regrets what happened enormously." Both Koujan and Clayton were made subject to curfews for six months and ordered to pay £80 victim surcharges.
