HUNDREDS of pounds of stock has been stolen from a Derby hair salon during an early-morning burglary.
GHD straighteners and a hairdryer were stolen from Harvey Luke Hair in Smalley Drive, Oakwood.
Amy Turner, joint manager of the salon, said: "We got the call at about 6am on Saturday morning.
"One of our neighbours had contacted the police as the burglary was taking place.
"It seems like it was a just an opportunistic crime as they have taken things that were very close to the door that they came through.
"We have never had any problems like this before."
The thieves used a large piece of stone to smash the bottom door window of the salon between 2am and 4am on Saturday.
They then climbed through the hole and took some of the straighteners from a display case as well as from behind the counter.
The hair straighteners that were taken were all GHD-branded. Two were limited edition, one white eclipse model worth £145 and a blue lagoon model worth £135, along with one regular set of straighteners and a GHD branded hairdryer, both worth £99.
Two roll bags were also stolen, used to carry the straighteners.
The alarm was triggered and forensic teams visited the scene that day.
The salon posted pictures on social media of the damage to the door and staff have been overwhelmed by the response.
Amy said: "We shared a picture showing the damage on the Facebook page and more than 100 people have shared it. I would like to thank everyone who has helped and been so supportive following the break-in.
"All the neighbours and our customers have been fantastic – from the people who made the first call to the police to everyone who has offered their support afterwards."
A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: "Crimes like this can really damage businesses and we will do everything we can to help track down those responsible.
"We urge anyone who is offered any of the items that has been stolen, or sees them for sale elsewhere, to contact Derbyshire police."
