NEWS that this year's Derby Assembly Rooms pantomime has been cancelled has once again sparked off the debate about the venue's future.
The staging of Beauty and the Beast at the Market Place venue had been in doubt since March, when the Assembly Rooms closed after a huge blaze in its car park.
It started in an air-conditioning unit in the plant room on top of the car park which contained the utilities for the site, including the Assembly Rooms itself.
In April, the council announced the Assembly Rooms would be shut for at least 18 months while it considered whether to refurbish or replace the building. Now the pantomime is cancelled, we are asking you to tell us what you think should be done about the Assembly Rooms? Would you refurbish it or replace it? Or do you have another idea?
