ONE lucky person could become the owner of a £12,000 diamond which has dropped 100,000ft from space - after being launched from a Derbyshire field.
The cushion-cut gem is understood to have been attached to a helium balloon this week and launched into space from a field in the county as part of PR stunt #diamondsinthesky by London jeweller 77 Diamonds.
It is thought to have landed somewhere in a small village in Lincolnshire.
And the best part is – if you find it, you can keep it.
Tobias Kormind, founder of the company, told the Metro: "Whoever finds our diamond really does get to keep it, so we are encouraging the general public to go out and start searching for it."
