A MAN has died after being hit by a train on the railway line in Derby.
British Transport Police and Derbyshire Police were called to Pear Tree station shortly after 3.15pm on Sunday after reports that a man had been struck by a train.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious and said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The train was reported to be the 14.04 service from Crewe to Derby.
The incident caused delays of up to 60 minutes to trains between Derby and Stoke-on-Trent and Burton-on-Trent but trains through Derby are now running normally.
An ambulance and three police cars were at the scene. Network Rail personnel were reported to be inspecting the line with torches.
No further details are known at this time.
