A WOMAN was hospitalised after suffering burns following a chip pan fire in Derby.
The victim also suffered the effects of smoke inhalation during the blaze which happened in Beaumont Walk, Sunny Hill.
Crews were called to the two-storey house shortly before 9pm last night and spent more than 30 minutes at the scene.
Support workers from the British Red Cross were also called to help the victims, a fire service spokesman said.
He said: "The fire started in the kitchen and it appears that the lady tried to put the flames out herself and suffered burns as a result.
"She was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for treatment."
