RYAN Shotton is handed his Derby County debut as Steve McClaren makes six changes to his side for Tuesday night's Capital One Cup second round tie against Charlton Athletic (7.45pm).
Shotton, signed on loan from Stoke City on Monday with a view to a permanent move, will start at right-back for the Rams.
Elsewhere, there are full debuts for on-loan duo Omar Mascarell and Leon Best.
Zak Whitbread comes in at centre-back, while England Under-21 international Will Hughes is also recalled to the starting line-up, along with forward Simon Dawkins.
That means Cyrus Christie, Jake Buxton, John Eustace, Craig Bryson, Jamie Ward and Chris Martin are all rested following Saturday's 5-1 victory over Fulham.
Christie, Bryson and Martin are named among the substitutes.
Young defender Farrend Rawson, Spanish attacking midfielder Ivan Calero and forward Alefe Santos are also on the bench.
"After the weekend, there were a couple of little niggles with Cyrus (hamstring) and we weren't prepared to take any chances," said Rams coach Paul Simpson.
"I think Sam Rush, Chris Evans and the head coach have worked over the weekend to try and get it (Shotton signing) done in time so that he could be involved tonight.
"Hopefully, he can come in, get an early game under his belt and show people what he can do. It is the easiest way for any new signing to get to know the squad."
On the inclusion of Real Madrid man Mascarell in the holding role, Simpson said: "That was one that was always on our minds.
"We thought John Eustace came in and did really well for us on Saturday. He did exactly what we wanted from him but we just felt tonight would be a good opportunity to look at Omar in that position."
Simpson added: "When you look at the bench, we have included the likes of Ivan Calero, (Farrend) Rawson and (Alefe) Santos. It is a good opportunity for them to taste first-team football."
