MEMBERS of several county NHS campaign groups tonight joined a national 300-mile march to protest against the privatisation of health services.
The People's March started from Jarrow, in Tyne and Wear, and is following the route of the 1936 Jarrow Crusade, a protest march against unemployment, to London.
They are protesting against the "rapid privatisation of health services under the Health and Social Care Act of 2012".
The march will visit 23 cities and towns before arriving at the Houses of Parliament on September 6.
And members of the SOS NHS groups in Derby, Belper, Chesterfield and Wirksworth joined the march as it entered Chesterfield.
Among speakers at the event tonight was Derbyshire County Council leader Anne Western. Campaigners from Derbyshire and East Staffordshire also presented a song and performed a play for the marchers.
