A DERBYSHIRE fund-raiser has made it through to this year's Pride of Britain Awards in October.
Maria Hanson, who set up Me and Dee - a charity which gives treats to children and adults with terminal illnesses - has been chosen as the East Midlands winner of the annual awards.
She was nominated as a fundraising hero in June after ITN and the Daily Mirror appealed for "inspirational people who are passionate about their cause".
Maria, who herself suffers from health problems, set up her charity in 2006 and since then has helped hundreds of people.
