A MAN has appeared in court charged with murder after the death of a man in Derbyshire on Thursday.
Santino Giovanni Genovese only spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth when he appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Saturday morning.
The 23-year-old, of Charlotte Street, Ilkeston has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.
He appeared in court after emergency services were called to a flat in Charlotte Street at about 5.40am on Thursday, after reports that two men had been seriously injured.
Paul Averill, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene and another man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Genovese was remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday.
