A DERBY florist which supplies its products nationwide to stores run by supermarket giant Morrisons is to create an extra 100 jobs.
FlowerWorld, which is owned by Morrisons, has launched a recruitment campaign to fill the permanent roles at its manufacturing site in Sinfin Lane.
Each week the site makes over 300,000 bunches of flowers, including hand tied bouquets and festive wreaths.
The site supplies bouquets to all of Morrisons 510 stores.
At key times of the year including Mother's Day and Valentine's Day the site can produce more than a million bouquets flowers in a week.
Jonathan Oldfield, general manager at the Derby site, said: "These opportunities give people the chance to learn real skills in floristry – an incredibly creative profession.
"This is a really exciting time to be joining Morrisons as our manufacturing sites are hugely important to the business and we are continuing to invest in them."
Morrisons took over the site at the Derby Distribution Centre in 2011 and has doubled production since buying the FlowerWorld business for an undisclosed sum.
Before the takeover, FlowerWorld already provided Morrisons with a third of its flower range.
At the time, Morrisons pledged to expand the business, which employed 185 people.
Before the deal, FlowerWorld, which was established in 1987 by Peter Woodhouse, provided fresh-cut flowers, plants, bulbs, seeds, wreaths and bouquets to florists and retailers.
Morrisons decided to buy the business to improve the quality and freshness of the flowers it sells in its stores.
Mr Oldfield said: "We are delighted at the success of the site over the last three years which has now given us the chance to offer more employment opportunities in the local area."
