DERBYSHIRE'S Academy player of the year, Will Davis, has been named in an 18-strong England Development Programme squad for 2014-15.
The 18-year-old pace bowler, who captained the Academy in the season just ended, has been a regular for the second XI this summer. He also plays for Denby in the Beechwood Derbyshire Premier League.
The squad features players from across the under-17 and under-19 age groups and represents the first intake of players to be overseen by the ECB's new head of the England Development Programme, Andy Hurry.
They will take part in a series of training camps at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough, before going on an overseas development camp to the sub-continent in December.
Then they will tour Australia in March and April ahead of the start of the 2015 English season.
EDP chairman of selectors David Graveney said: "The composition of the 2014-15 EDP squad represents a change in direction for the England Development Programme with the under-19 and under-17 age groups fully combined for the first time.
"This has created one smaller squad of players for Andy Hurry and the rest of the coaching staff at the NCPC to work with more closely - and gives the county academies greater ownership in developing their young players."
