THE tail end of Hurricane Gonzalo will bring gusts of up to 70mph to Derbyshire on Tuesday, the Met Office has warned.
It's forecasters have issued a "low level" wind warning for the day and have said drivers should be particularly wary of the storm.
Hurricane Gonzalo crashed into the Atlantic island of Bermuda, damaging buildings and downing powerlines, and is now off the coast of Nova Scotia.
It is expected to be downgraded from an official hurricane later today.
But what remains of the storm is headed towards the UK and is expected to reach Derbyshire late on Monday.
Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: "The wind to start to pick up late Monday night into Tuesday morning.
"We have a low level, yellow warning, for wind which will run from midnight on Monday to 3pm Tuesday afternoon.
"Drivers should be wary of the wind picking up spray and, because we've had such a mild Autumn so far, there are plenty of leaves left to be blown off the trees."
Mr Partridge said the average wind speed would rise to between 30 to 35mph in Derbyshire, with gusts of up to 50mph in most areas.
But on exposed ground, such as in the Derbyshire Dales, the wind speed could get up to 70mph.
There will also be heavy rain on Tuesday until mid-morning.
Mr Partridge said about 20mm would fall.
