COUNCILLORS have agreed to borrow £23million to install LED bulbs in 68,000 street lights across Derbyshire.
The Labour cabinet at Derbyshire County Council said the move would save money in the long-term, as it would reduce the authority's energy bills.
Work to change the 68,000 streetlights - 78% of the council's stock - is expected to be completed by the summer of 2018.
The decision to borrow the money was made at a cabinet meeting this morning.
