FIVE people injured in a head-on collision between Derby and Ashbourne remain in hospital.
Police said four of those injured in the smash on the A52 between Kirk Langley and Brailsford are at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham while the fifth is at the Royal Derby Hospital.
All of them are in a stable condition after being treated for their injuries by medics.
A 33-year-old woman who was driving a Peugeot, and two of her passengers - a man aged 25 and a woman aged 26, suffered injuries along with two women in a Volkswagen Golf.
Police said the VW was heading towards Ashbourne and the Peugeot towards Derby when the collision took place shortly before 10.30am yesterday.
All of them had to be cut free from the cars by firefighter and the road was closed in both directions until around 3.30pm.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
