Former Derby County star Roger Davies was injured in a car crash which caused travel chaos in Derby on Friday morning.
The football club has issued a statement which says the 64-year-old suffered injuries including cuts and bruises. The former striker is being treated at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and is "on the road to recovery" according to a spokesman for the club.
The A516 in Burnaston was closed for four-and-a-half hours after the incident.
A 33-year-old man was trapped in his car for almost two hours and suffered multiple injuries after the collision, in Etwall Road, at about 6.10am.
A Derby County spokesman said: "Everyone at Derby County would like to wish Roger Davies a full and speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the iPro Stadium in the near future."
