THE Derby Grenadier guardsman who became a global internet sensation by dancing on duty at Buckingham Palace has completed a 14-day sentence in a military prison.
Sam Holmes, 20, was also docked a fortnight's pay but is now believed to be back on parade after completing his punishment, according to the Daily Mail.
He performed a series of ballet-style pirouettes in the video which was watched more than 1.7 million people on YouTube.
At the time of the incident a source said: "This guardsman's senior officers were livid when they saw the footage. His conduct is contrary to everything being a guardsman is about.
Sam's father Marc revealed last night that Sam told him: "I don't know what possessed me to do it but I'll never do anything like it again. It was a moment of madness. I got off lightly, to be honest."
It is believed to be the first time in the Guards' 358-year history a soldier has been disciplined for dancing while on parade.
