A DERBY man is trying to reunite a medal he has found with the family of the man it was awarded to. Bob Manners, of Gilbert Close, Spondon, said he believes the medal is from the First World War and belonged to a soldier from a Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire regiment. It carries the inscription "The Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919". Mr Manners said: "It belonged to Private JW French, 60554, from the Notts and Derby Regiment and I would like to return it to his family." Anyone who is a relative of Pte French or knows someone who is, is asked to contact Mr Manners via email at bobtheredlew@virginmedia.com.
