DERBY COUNTY LADIES: Looking to make up lost ground against Bradford City

FOLLOWING the postponement of Derby County's league fixture with reigning champions Sheffield last week, Ewe Rams have everything crossed that tomorrow's home FA Women's Premier League game against Bradford City beats the weather and goes ahead.

Jenny Sugarman's side haven't seen action since November 9, when they lost narrowly away to Stoke City, and haven't played at home since mid-September due to the break-in at Borrowash Victoria's Anderson Electrical Arena.

As a result of both this and a lengthy injury list, Derby have slipped from top spot to one place above the relegation zone.

However, there finally appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, according to club chief executive Duncan Gibb.

"We are now three games behind most clubs, so the table has something of a false feel about it," he said.

"However, we all know how these things can suck you in so, with a run of games coming up against sides we know we can secure points from, we need to start putting some points on the board.

"Thankfully, we are now seeing key players coming back into the fold following injury and we look forward to taking on a Bradford side renowned for their work ethic.

"The key for us is to match that and bring our A game to the table."

The game will be at the Anderson Electrical Arena, kick-off 2pm.

Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for under-16s, with Derby County and Burton Albion season ticket holders admitted free upon production of a current season ticket card.

With last week's game called off and the reserves without a fixture, all eyes were on Jack White's Under-16s and the latest chapter of their title battle with Coventry City.

Neither side tend to drop many points, so as City were without a fixture, the pressure was on Derby to secure all three points when they entertained Pershore.

With two minutes to go, White's side trailed 3-2 but a Daniella Oxley equaliser was then followed by penalty award in injury time.

Molly Matthews duly scored from the spot with what turned out to be the last kick of the game.

"You can never be sure about these things but had we lost the game I think it's fair to say that the title would have become a really tough ask," said assistant manager Dave King.

"The girls dug deep and the manner of the win sends out a clear message to the rest of the league in terms of our resilience."
