A 49-YEAR-OLD woman is still in intensive care in hospital after suffering "severe head injuries" in a collision with a car.
The pedestrian and the vehicle, a Toyota Yaris, were involved in the incident in Normanton on Friday at 5.15am.
The road was closed for more than two hours while investigators examined the scene, at the junction of Upper Dale Road and St James' Road.
Police said the woman, who is local, was first taken to the Royal Derby Hospital but then, shortly before 8am, transferred to the Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham.
They said she was still in the hospital's intensive care unit this morning.
Anyone who witnessed to collision is asked to call the police on 101.
