A DRIVER has been airlifted to hospital with "serious injuries" after a two-lorry collision on the M1.
It happened on the southbound carriageway, between junction 29, at Chesterfield, and junction 28, at Alfreton, today at 4.55am.
Police have closed off the stretch of road between the two junctions, causing severe delays which are expected to last several hours.
The man has been taken to Northern General Hospital at Sheffield.
There is a diversion in operation and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
