A SHOPKEEPER was attacked as he opened his store in Derby.
The man said he arrived at 7am to open Beaufort News in Beaufort Street, Chaddesden.
As he did so he was assaulted by a man and the pair began to tussle.
He said: "I wasn't going to give up and he wasn't going to give up but he ran off and thankfully I was not hurt."
This morning a police officer stood guard until 11am and the shop was cordoned off while repairs were done to the front door of the shop, which was smashed.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
