A JOBS fair is being held this weekend to help recruit a fresh batch of supervisors and managers for a new warehouse in Derbyshire.
Healthcare and pharmaceutical logistics and storage firm UDG is opening a 224,000 sq ft distribution centre in South Normanton and needs more managerial staff to enable it to expand.
Based on the Castlewood Industrial Estate, it is on the lookout for shift supervisors, transport supervisors, shift managers, an inventory manager, a contracts manager, a quality manager, a training manager, a management trainer and an operations manager.
As part of the expansion, the business is also looking to take on around 60 warehouse operatives.
The recruitment event is between 10am and 3pm on Saturday, April 26, at the Derbyshire Hotel, Carter Lane East, South Normanton. It represents an opportunity to speak to the management and human resources department about the vacancies available.
The company is advising those attending to take along a CV and be prepared for an informal interview.
Jobcentre Plus will have representatives at the event to talk about the training it offers to warehouse supervisors.
Those with experience of warehouse operations who are also claiming jobseekers' allowance will be offered the chance to have two weeks of specialist training.
"Those completing the course will be guaranteed an assessment for suitable roles.
UDG operations director Mark Langton said: "The open day is primarily about management roles and we are looking for people who are interested in advancing their careers – people who have some supervisory experience as team leaders who want to be senior supervisors or shift managers.
"They will need experience in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
"The kind of people that we are looking to recruit have to be conscientious, hard-working, trustworthy and be a team player."
UDG has five warehouses in Derbyshire and is experiencing a period of growth. Over the next 12 months, it expects to take on a further 200 people, taking its UK workforce up to 900.
The Castlewood warehouse is scheduled to open in early July.
Mr Langton said: "We have an enviable position as a market leader in our field.
"It is because of this that we are expanding and we will be operating from five warehousing sites in the South Normanton area.
"Our plan is to increase the size of the business by around 25%.
"The jobs fair is one way we can recruit for the new facility."
Agencies will be handling the warehouse operative and forklift truck driver positions for which the company is recruiting.
