ABOUT 50 anti-UKIP protesters gathered outside the conference centre in Derby where Nigel Farage was to speak tonight. They were being watched by five police officers who have said there had been no trouble. Songs sung by the protesters have included "free movement forever" and "are you Griffin in disguise". Dom Anderson, Vice President of the National Union of Students, who lives off Ashbourne Road, Derby, said: "I think we need to send a message that Derby is not about the message UKIP is bringing. " It's my opinion that they are a xenophobic party. Derby is a multi-cultural city and we don't want them coming in with their divisive politics." Sue Arguile, secretary of the Derby branch of the National Union of Teachers, is among the protesters and said: "UKIP is a racist party that uses immigration to hide their real policies." Nicola Scope, 52, of Littleover, said: "People think Nigel Farage is an all right bloke but he's a neo-rich capitalist."
