A DUFFIELD man has been prosecuted after a "large number" of paint tins were dumped on a path in Ripley.
Peter Marshall of Rigga Lane, Duffield, pleaded guilty to the offence at Derby Magistrates' Court.
He was fined £500 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £50 and costs of £4,325.40.
The paint tins were found on Ripley Greenway, a route popular with horse riders, cyclists and walkers, around November 3 last year.
Amber Valley Borough Council, which brought the prosecution against Marshall, said the tins caused considerable damage to the environment.
