ADAM Legzdins has spelled out his determination to become Leyton Orient's new number one after leaving Derby County "with a heavy heart".
The goalkeeper's contract with the Rams expires this summer and he has agreed to join Orient on a two-year deal.
Legzdins made 37 appearances for Derby after joining from Burton Albion in 2011.
But the 27-year-old did not feature during the 2013-14 campaign, with Lee Grant ever-present between the sticks.
The former Birmingham City and Crewe Alexandra stopper has been signed by Russell Slade as a replacement for Jamie Jones, who is leaving to join Preston North End.
"I leave Derby with a heavy heart," said Legzdins. "It was a great set of players and I was friends with all of them.
"I can see how that togetherness can help you achieve great things and so I wanted a club with a close set of lads with great camaraderie.
"Last year was disappointing for me for various reasons and I played fewer games than I'd hoped but the year before, I played 33 games in the Championship.
"That's my ambition – to play games. I don't want to be number two goalkeeper."
Orient reached the League One play-off final in 2013-14 but were beaten on penalties by Rotherham United.
"Having been part of the group at Derby and suffering a Wembley defeat too, I can feel what the lads at Orient must be going through," said Legzdins.
"It's hard to take but you have to take the positives out of it and remember things you did well. Then you can make the improvements that need to be made and go one step better."
Legzdins was a loan target for Orient last season but a move never materialised.
"I'm delighted that it's all been sorted," he said. "I was aware that Orient were interested in me last year for a loan move but, unfortunately, it didn't happen.
"But once I found out they were interested in me again, I spoke to the manager and the goalkeeper coach and it became very clear the ambition of the club is to build on last year, so I'm thrilled to be a part of it."
