A record 1.7m complaints were made to the Big Six energy companies in the first quarter of this year, according to consumer group Which?
It was a rise of 15 per cent on the same time last year when there were 1.48million complaints.
The watchdog said the complaints showed millions of customers were being let down by poor service.
