An elderly man was the victim of rogue traders on Monday, police said today.
The 87-year-old was in his front garden in Birchover Way, Allestree, when two men offered to remove asbestos from his home.
They said they would repair the roof if he gave them money upfront to buy building materials. The victim agreed and handed over a large sum of money to the two men who never returned.
Only one of the men spoke to the victim - he had olive-coloured skin, was approximately five feet six inches tall, around 30 years of age and spoke with a local accent.
Officers would like to speak to anyone else in the area who saw or were visited by two men offering to do building work or asbestos removal at their home or anyone who has information about the incident.
