SCORES of revellers sang carols as the Christmas lights were switched on in Oakwood.
MP Pauline Latham pulled the switch to light up the 30ft tree which is standing outside the Oak and Acorn at the district centre.
Pub manager Jane McManamon put on mince pies, sausage rolls and fruit punch to keep everyone warm at this afternoon's event.
Sister's Charlotte and Esme Rooney, five and four, were there to see Santa Claus with their dad Leigh, 38.
Charlotte said: "I want a Barbie scooter for Christmas and a rainbow Christmas tree."
