RESIDENTS have complained about a fireworks display that took place in Derby city centre last night.
Loud rockets lit up the sky above Derbyshire Cricket Club during a 15-minute display that began at 10.30pm.
The bangs could be heard more than five miles away in Boulton Moor, near Alvaston.
Residents took to Twitter to complain about the noise of the display, which was held by mobile phone entrepreneur Paul Sisson.
In a tweet, 'Mrs Derbyshire' wrote: "Your selfish fireworks have affected huge residential areas of Derby tonight. Carols are for Christmas. Fireworks are for 5/11."
Paul Wilkins said: "I think the guy responsible for those fireworks should be named and shamed. I could hear them in Borrowash."
Karen Helen, of Boulton Moor, tweeted: "The fireworks woke my poorly girl who can't settle now."
Rachel Butler, of Chester Green, posted: "Fireworks. At 10.30pm. On December 7. Idiots."
Mr Sisson, founder of A1 Comms Ltd, said the display had taken place later than planned. He tweeted: "Hope you enjoyed the fireworks - sorry they were 15 minutes later then I said."
The Derby Telegraph has been unable to reach anyone at A1 Comms for a comment.
