LEON Best played 45 minutes for Derby County in an under-21 friendly against Mansfield Town at the Rams' training ground yesterday.
Best, who has signed on a season-long loan from Blackburn Rovers, started as a lone striker before he was replaced by Kwame Thomas at half-time.
Spaniard Ivan Calero, playing on the right, scored twice and Kieron Freeman also found the net as Derby built a 3-0 lead by the interval but Mansfield hit back in the second half to win 4-3.
Calero opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a shot from 20 yards and then followed up an effort from Mason Bennett to grab his second on 20 minutes.
Freeman made it three with a deflected shot three minutes later.
Bennett played for an hour and Calero for 78 minutes. They were replaced by Alefes Santos and Shaquille McDonald.
Jamie Hanson and Tom Naylor played at centre-back.
