DERBY County match-winner Jeff Hendrick shared the plaudits with his team-mates following the Rams' 1-0 victory over Rotherham United.

Hendrick's 82nd-minute strike gave Steve McClaren's men all three points in their opening game of the 2014-15 Championship campaign at the iPro Stadium on Saturday.

Rotherham almost snatched a last-gasp equaliser but Derby keeper Lee Grant denied former Rams midfielder Paul Green before Craig Forsyth cleared Kieran Agard's goalbound shot off the line.

"It wasn't just down to me - it was a team performance," said Hendrick.

"Granty made a great save at the end and Fozzy cleared one off the line.

"Keezy (Richard Keogh) and Bucko (Jake Buxton) were making blocks, so was Cyrus (Christie).

"And Will (Hughes) did well, breaking up the play.

"So everyone worked hard and, thankfully, we got the goal.

"I think it was a solid performance from us."

Hendrick swept home the winner from 15 yards, finishing first-time from debutant Christie's low centre.

"I thought he (Christie) was going to cross but he took an extra touch and then put it on a plate for me," said the Republic of Ireland international. "I just had to finish it.

"I had a look up and the keeper, for some reason, was at the front post, so I had half the goal to aim at.

"Thankfully, it went in."
