The A38 was closed for more than an hour after a two car crash on the northbound carriageway.
The accident involved a Seat Leon and a VW Caddy and happened between the Kingsway junction and the turn-off for Mickleover.
There are no injuries but the Seat Leon needs to be recovered from the scene.
There are serious tailbacks to the Littleover turn off.
