A 24-YEAR-OLD Derby man - who told police the reason he had so many plastic "dealer" bags on him was because he sold them to drug sellers - has now been stripped of more than £1,400. The Derby Telegraph reported earlier this month how police came across Jaseem Ramzan sat on a bench in Normanton Park while they were trying to track down a robbery suspect. Derby Crown Court was told how there was a strong smell of cannabis in the area and a blue bag he had with him contained five bagged cannabis deals. It heard that the discovery led to a search of Ramzan's home, which found more cannabis deals, "a very large quantity of plastic dealer bags" and about £1,500 in cash. Ramzan, 24, of Patmore Square, Sinfin, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing cannabis with intent to supply. The court heard that his previous offences included assault and drink-driving. He received a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, ordered him to undertake 150 hours unpaid work and pay £450 prosecution costs. Now, magistrates have held a hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act, where a forfeiture order for £1,478 was obtained against Ramzan. The act means that anyone who profits from crime can lose the financial and lifestyle gains they have enjoyed. If you have information about someone living from the proceeds of criminal activity call Derbyshire police on 101.Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
