REGARDING the article, ''Trees chopped in safety work" (March 20) about trees on Bass's Recreation Ground, will Derby City Council ever get it right on tree management?
We are at the start of the nesting season and out comes the chainsaw gang. Where have they been hiding or were they hibernating?
The lame excuse that the branches were covering lights is a bit much considering the time you need lights is in the dark winter nights (that is, from September until March, not when the days are longer and evenings are lighter).
The council's reputation for wildlife and forestry management is dire.
