Fire crews use thermal imaging gear to rescue two from Derby house blaze

FIREFIGHTERS using thermal imaging equipment rescued two people from a house fire in Crosby Street, Derby. The blaze broke out in a front bedroom of the two-storey property at about 8.40pm on Saturday night. Firefighters from Nottingham Road station attended the scene and used the thermal imaging equipment to detect the people inside. They also needed breathing apparatus to reach them and administered oxygen until the paramedics arrived. Afterwards, the fire crew spent some time ventilating the property which was badly smoke-damaged. It is understood the injuries of the rescued pair were confined to the effects of breathing in smoke.
