BELPER'S Hollie Webb was among the England women hockey players to pay their respects to Australian cricketer Phil Hughes ahead of the ladies' opening FIH Championship Trophy match with the Aussies.
Australia batsman Hughes passed away earlier this week after being struck on the head by a bouncer, while batting for South Australia against New South Wales at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The England women's hockey team are currently in Argentina and will play Australia in the first match in Mendoza tonight (7.30pm). Matlock's Ellie Watton is also in the team.
The Hockeyroos are the current Commonwealth Games champions after defeating England on shootout in Glasgow and are also World Cup silver-medallists.
Germany, who England beat 3-1 at the World Cup in The Hague come into the tournament ranked 7th-one place below Danny Kerry's side.
Argentina are England's final Pool B opponents. The hosts won the last Champions Trophy back in 2012 when a Silvina D'Elia goal was enough to edge out Great Britain in the final, 1-0. Roared on by a fervent home support, Las Leonas will be looking for inspiration from eight-time FIH World Player of the Year Luciana Aymar who holds the record for appearances in the competition and will be competing in her 15th Champions Trophy.
